I am a retired US Marine as well as a retired educator. I currently hold a Masters in Educational Administration and Curriculum and Instruction as well as a Bachelors in History all from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I am also a certified coach with USA Hockey which oddly enough began while hockey coaching part time for the State of Hawaii YMCA during my time in the Marine Corps. Growing up as a child of two military service members I have traveled all over the United States and have even driven the famous Alaska Canadian Highway twice in my life. The first time was in 1996 when my family and I drove from Washington DC to Anchorage and the second was in 2001 when my sister and I drove from Anchorage to Houston.
I served four years as an Aviation Mechanic for the CH-53 helicopters in the Marines from 1997-2001 and was stationed in Hawaii while on active duty. I then served from 2001-2007 in the Texas Air National Guard as an Aviation Mechanic working on the F-16 fighter aircraft in support of homeland security including assisting in Operation Enduring Freedom after the attacks of 9-11. I left the military and entered education in 2007. I would work in education for ten years. I would begin as a Social Studies teacher and coach. I ended my career in education as a full time Special Services campus coordinator. While working in education I would also assist several school districts by helping develop and maintain school websites, developing school curriculum, and creating media and documents for training. I retired from education in 2018 and set out to relocate myself to Florida where my Grandfather, a veteran of WWI, Korea, and Vietnam also retired. Cancer and life delayed that move until 2022.
During my time in education I started to fall in love with media production. Starting with assisting schools with web design and developing school security procedures I gained an interest in learning about all things media related. I would eventually begin to take an interest in video production. I further honed those skills over the years as a volunteer one of my churches. While assisting at the church I would learn about running cameras during services, operating video switch boards for broadcasting live and on the church website. I would even assist with set creation for church events.
After moving to Florida I attended an event hosted by the Space Coast Board Riders and was introduced to the world of surf photography by my good friend and occasional mentor Stephanie. I slowly began to develop my business and acquire the equipment needed to work as a surf photographer. While coaching hockey in Rockledge I met another great friend and occasional mentor Justin who has inspired me to grow my business beyond just surf photography.
While I am just now in year two the goal is to be able to cover a diverse range of media projects from business promotional videos to events as well as personal photography and videography needs. I look forward to working with our Space Coast community.
